A Cover Story for The Being a Mother Workshop founded by me in May 2001 hit the Boroondara post boxes and led to 400 bookings (before mobile phones) within a one week period. This highlighted the importance of reaching mums at their time of need. The workshop focused on the inadequate acknowledgment or support for new mums in their new role and the adjustment to motherhood. I was regularly interviewed in newspapers and radio on this topic that was considered as an emerging area of focus in the field of psychology.
The cover story included the psychological impacts of mums who completed the Being a Mother Workshop. These workshops were in high demand in Melbourne, Sydney and Queensland with requests from USA and NZ.
This workshop motivated me to reach more people (before Instagram and Tiktok). I co-founded VIP Events for Mums in 2007 as a place to reach 200+ mums at annual curated events to positively impact the psychological wellbeing of more mothers and emulate the key foundations of the Being a Mother workshop in a non-clinical setting.
